Organic Clothing is made under principles that don't pollute the surrounding environment, and don't exploit the people involved in the process. With pashmina, This is easy to ensure, as no crops are directly used in the manufacturing process, which means no pesticides need be used. To make an
organic pashmina, the silkworms must be bred ethically and treated well, instead of exhausted; and the
cashmere goats should be kept free range, and allow to breed well and eat freely, as well as being well-fed. Their food should also follow organic guidelines.
Our organic policies
At Pashmina International, we follow a strict "
no child labor" policy, and actually check our factories (see photo), as well as ensuring staff have adequate breaks and benefits. This works well with core organic ethical values, as we ensure that nobody is harmed or taken advantage of in the production of our scarves. We believe this instantly puts us above most other pashmina retailers in terms of human rights, who are often too concerned over profit to worry about human issues at this level.
Organic cashmere and silk
We are planning on introducing organic cashmere items, including scarves and shawls, in the near future. Our products may be at this completely organic already, but are not yet certified. These will include cashmere, hemp, cotton, wool, silk, and flax fibers.
