Merino is a breed of sheep that produces very fine wool, used to make the finest of woolen and worsted cloths. The wool yarn from fleece of merino sheep is short, fine, strong, resilient and takes dyes well; as a result, merino items really can last a lifetime, and don't scratch like cheaper wool does.
Our merino items are all
pure merino wool - a specially cultivated breed that makes for tough, durable items, locking in warmth, that are very smooth to the touch and drape very well. The material is not as light and liable to crease or fly away as cashmere and pashmina, but instead feels slightly heavier and thicker, creating luxurious folds as you wrap it around your neck.
We have a
merino wool advice center, detailing care instructions and further background information.
We are convinced you'll love the feel of our pure
merino wool shawls. If not, we'll gladly take them back for ourselves!
